Standard of conduct

Participants in the sceptre community are expected to communicate professionally and treat one another with respect. Disagreement about scientific or technical matters is welcome; criticism should focus on the work rather than the person.

Expected conduct includes:

  • giving and receiving constructive feedback in good faith;
  • keeping discussions relevant to the scientific and software goals of the project;
  • respecting privacy, confidentiality, and appropriate attribution; and
  • acknowledging and correcting mistakes.

Unacceptable conduct includes harassment, threats, personal attacks, discrimination on the basis of protected characteristics, sexualized language or imagery, deliberate intimidation, publishing another person’s private information without permission, and sustained disruption of project spaces.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies in project spaces, including GitHub issues, pull requests, discussions, documentation, events, and private communications about project participation. It also applies when someone is representing the project in public.

Reporting and enforcement

Report suspected violations privately to Eugene Katsevich (ekatsevi@wharton.upenn.edu) or Timothy Barry (tbarry@hsph.harvard.edu). If a report concerns either contact, report it to the other. Reports will be handled as promptly, fairly, and confidentially as practicable by maintainers who are not involved in the matter.

Maintainers may remove, edit, or reject contributions and communications that violate this Code of Conduct. Depending on the severity and pattern of conduct, a response may range from a private correction or warning to temporary or permanent exclusion from project spaces.
